I have a daily routine to shift my energy into a high state of vibration so I can create a day filled with experiences I want to have. One of the quickest ways to raise energy and nourish the soul is to live from a consciousness of gratitude, so the key tool I use in my routine is my gratitude journal. Gratitude creates a miracle by shifting your perception and changing the world you see.
Buddhist monks start each day with a chant of gratitude for the blessings of their life. Native American elders begin each ceremony with grateful prayers to Mother Earth and Father Sky, the four directions, the plants and animals, and the brothers and sisters who share our earth and support our life. In Tibet, the monks and nuns even offer prayers of gratitude for the suffering they have been given: “Grant that I might have enough suffering to awaken in the deepest possible wisdom and compassion.”
Being in gratitude creates a love for every moment in your life.
You can shift your entire energy just by taking a moment, walking outside, looking up at the sky, and feeling just how amazing life is. The deeper your appreciation of the world around you, the more you are living in harmony with Divine Light and Love. The higher your vibration, the more more experiences you will attract to match your vibration.
I kept a journal for years, but it took me a while to figure out that my journal was actually hurting my energy. See, I used to write about everything: the good, the bad, and the ugly. I wrote about happy times, but I found myself writing a lot more about how I was struggling, fights with loved ones, or issues I was having with people. What I didn’t realize was that writing most about these things and how I felt depressed was actually keeping the focus on lower vibrations and making me feel worse.
Don’t get me wrong – it’s important to acknowledge what we feel, and life’s not always a bed of roses. There will be times we do feel those crappy, lower vibrating feelings. The important thing is not to stay stuck or fully focused on those feelings – and writing about them all the time was keeping me stuck.
Give gratitude and the Universe will create more experiences to be grateful for.
These days, I open a journal filled with my expressions of gratitude. This is the most powerful way to shift your energy, even when you are challenged. There is always something to be grateful for, something that makes you say, “Thank you!” to the Universe. The power of this type of journal is that it keeps you focused on the positive, not the negative, and sends a message to the Universe to give you more positive experiences.
My journal each morning simply starts with the date and then I write: “I am grateful for …….” For example, this morning’s entry is below:
January 17, 2016
I am grateful for quiet time. I am grateful for playing basketball with my son, David. I am grateful for awareness. I am grateful for love. I am grateful for hugs. I am grateful for new opportunities. I am grateful for new clients. I am grateful for the sunshine.
….Simple, right? And yet so powerful. Try it for yourself!
